Tap Cancer Out - Raising Funds and Awareness For Cancer Among the Grappling Community.
Tap Cancer Out is a jiu-jitsu based 501(c)(3) nonprofit raising awareness and funds for cancer fighting organizations on behalf of the grappling community. They do this primarily through hosting fundraising tournaments, but also through direct donations, merchandise sales and sponsorships. Since 2011, they’ve hosted four tournaments and raised over $135,000 for various cancer causes. It is no secret that cancer is killing millions of people worldwide. This year alone over 560,000 people will lose their fight with cancer. That’s more than 1,500 each day. In the U.S., Cancer is the second most common cause of death and accounts for nearly 1 out of every 4 deaths.
Tap Cancer Out is an amazing organization and DeuS Fight is blessed to know Jon and play a part in what they are doing. Checkout their site to make a donation or get more information on this amazing program.
Cancer is a formidable opponent, but can be beat.
Tap Cancer Out’s founder, Jon Thomas, has spent the last six years of his life training in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). While the sport is commonly misunderstood as something similar to cage-fighting, it is actually quite the contrary. BJJ is both martial art and sport – a method for promoting both physical fitness and high moral character, and ultimately, a way of life.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers far more to a student than a repertoire of arm locks and chokeholds. It builds camaraderie, self-respect, and discipline. The student becomes part of a team, and ultimately a community of grapplers.
